कर्मणो ह्यपि बोद्धव्यं बोद्धव्यं च विकर्मणः | अकर्मणश्च बोद्धव्यं गहना कर्मणो गतिः

karmaṇo hy api boddhavyaṃ boddhavyaṃ ca vikarmaṇaḥ | akarmaṇaś ca boddhavyaṃ gahanā karmaṇo gatiḥ

Action must be known, prohibited action must be known, and inaction must be known. Profound is the path of action.

Triple discernment required. Boddhavyam — must be known — applied to three: karma (ordered action), vikarma (prohibited action), akarma (true inaction).

Gahanā karmaṇo gatiḥ — profound/impenetrable is the path of action — indicates that the theme is subtle, not superficial. What appears as action may be spiritual inaction; what appears as inactivity may be intense action. Requires penetrating discernment.
