One who drinks of the Dhamma sleeps happily with a serene mind. The wise one always delights in the Dhamma proclaimed by the noble ones.

Dhammapīti — drinker of the Dhamma: pīti can mean “drinker” but also “spiritual rapture”. The ambiguity is deliberate: one who drinks deeply of the Dhamma experiences that rapture, one of the factors of jhāna.

Sukhaṃ seti vippasannena cetasā — sleeps happily with a serene mind: vippasanna is profoundly clear and tranquil. The practitioner has even nightly rest tinged with serenity — not from exhaustion but from the inner peace that practice generates.

Ariyappavedite dhamme — in the Dhamma proclaimed by the noble ones: the ariya are beings who have reached stages of the path. Their proclamation has experiential authority — not theoretical but lived and verified in their own transformation.

Sadā ramati — always delights: the wise one not only studies the Dhamma; genuinely enjoys its contemplation. This attitude of delight is opposite to the arid and compulsive study of the mere academic.
