Dvitīyopadeśaḥ (Āsana) · Verse 32
गुल्फौ च वृषणस्याधः सीवन्याः पार्श्वयोः क्रमात् | ऊरुणोरन्तरे कृत्वा पादौ चैव तु पार्श्वतः ||
gulphau ca vṛṣaṇasyādhaḥ sīvanyāḥ pārśvayoḥ kramāt | ūruṇor antare kṛtvā pādau caiva tu pārśvataḥ ||
The execution of Gorakṣāsana: similar to Vajrāsana but with the feet placed between the thighs rather than extended. It is an inverted half-lotus position.
The heels at the perineum naturally activate mūla bandha. The feet between the thighs create a triangular structure that stabilizes the pelvis.
This posture is particularly valued in the Nātha tradition for the practice of kuṇḍalinī. The specific foot position presses important acupuncture points on the thighs.
