Tṛtīyopadeśaḥ (Mudrā) · Verse 19
महावेधो महावीर्यो महासिद्धिप्रदायकः | तत्प्रकारं प्रवक्ष्यामि शृणु त्वं कमलानने ||
mahāvedho mahāvīryo mahāsiddhipradāyakaḥ | tatprakāraṃ pravakṣyāmi śṛṇu tvaṃ kamalānane ||
Mahāvedha — the great piercing. It is the third of the great techniques, completing the sequence with Mahāmudrā and Mahābandha.
Vedha means piercing, penetration, boring through. In the context of subtle yoga, it refers to prāṇa “piercing” the crown center (sahasrāra) or the lower centers to ascend.
This technique is often practiced immediately after Mahābandha, as its culmination. The energy trapped by the bandhas is then directed toward its final destination.
