Tṛtīyopadeśaḥ (Mudrā) · Verse 48

विपरीतकरणी मुद्रा जरामरणनाशिनी | नित्याभ्यस्ता तु यत्नेन दिव्यदेहं प्रयच्छति ||

viparītakaraṇī mudrā jarāmaraṇanāśinī | nityābhyastā tu yatnena divyadehaṃ prayacchati ||

Benefits of Viparītakaraṇī: longevity, rejuvenation, and divya-deha. Sustained inversion is considered an anti-aging practice.

“With effort” (yatnena) indicates it is not a passive practice. It requires actively maintaining the position with attention and control.

Partial inversion (legs up a wall) is accessible to almost everyone and provides many of the same benefits as full inversions.
