Pañcamopadeśaḥ (Prāṇāyāma) · Verse 24

केवलेनैव योगीन्द्रो मृत्युं जयति निश्चितम् | न तस्य मरणं किञ्चिन्न च जरा न रोगता ||

kevalenaiva yogīndro mṛtyuṃ jayati niścitam | na tasya maraṇaṃ kiñcin na ca jarā na rogatā ||

The results of Kevala kumbhaka: conquest of death, absence of disease and old age. It is the practice that produces immortality.

“Only with the Kevala” — all other practices are preparatory. Kevala is the state where the transformation is completed.

For the practitioner, this means the goal is not to retain the breath longer by force, but to allow spontaneous retention to arise when the system is ready.
