Ṣaṣṭhopadeśaḥ (Dhyāna) · Verse 5
स्थूले ध्याते स्थिरा बुद्धिर्ब्रह्मण्येव प्रजायते | ततः सूक्ष्मं प्रवक्ष्यामि योगिनां सुखसाधनम् ||
sthūle dhyāte sthirā buddhir brahmaṇy eva prajāyate | tataḥ sūkṣmaṃ pravakṣyāmi yogināṃ sukhasādhanam ||
Result of Sthūla dhyāna: mental stability (sthirā buddhiḥ) and orientation toward the divine. The concrete form sustains the mind while orienting it toward transcendence.
Transition to Sūkṣma dhyāna. After establishing the mind in form, the practitioner can advance to the subtle.
This progression is natural: first the mind needs a concrete anchor; once stable, it can release the form and remain in the essence.
