Fire is his head, the eyes are the sun and moon, the directions are his ears, speech his manifested senses and the Vedas; the wind is his breath, his heart is the universe, and from his feet is the earth — he is the inner Self of all beings.

The cosmic Person: the macrocosm as body of the universal Being.

Agniḥ mūrdhā — fire as head. The highest, the brightest, what illumines.

Candra-sūryau cakṣuṣī — sun and moon as eyes. The sources of light that see the universe.

Diśaḥ śrotre — directions as ears. In all directions is perceived.

Vāk… vedāḥ — speech and Vedas as manifested senses. Expressed wisdom as extension of perception.

Vāyuḥ prāṇaḥ — wind as vital breath. The energy that circulates through the whole cosmos.

Hṛdayaṃ viśvam — the universe as heart. Everything contained in his being.

Padbhyāṃ pṛthivī — from his feet, the earth. The densest, the lowest, what supports.

Sarva-bhūtāntarātmā — the inner Self of all beings. The same in all, the unity in multiplicity.

This vision dissolves the separation between inside and outside.
