Śvetāśvatara Upaniṣad · 6..23
य इमं मनुष्येषु विदित्वा मनुष्येषु वसन् य इमं मनुष्येषु विदित्वा मनुष्येषु वसन्
ya imaṃ manuṣyeṣu viditvā manuṣyeṣu vasan ya imaṃ manuṣyeṣu viditvā manuṣyeṣu vasan
Who, knowing this among humans, dwells among humans. Who, knowing this among humans, dwells among humans.
Seventeenth and final repetition of this phrase, completing the final liturgy of the Śvetāśvatara Upaniṣad. In our yoga practice, this extreme insistence teaches us that knowledge is not a destination but a path, not an object but a relationship. The sage who knows and dwells is always in process, always discovering, always present. This last repetition is the echo that resonates when the text has ended: viditvā vasan —knowing, dwelling— is the essence of jīvanmukti, the liberation in life that this Upaniṣad invites us to realize.
