And I am situated in the heart of all; from Me come memory, knowledge and their disappearance. I alone am to be known by all the Vedas; I am the maker of the Vedānta and I alone know the Vedas.

The central verse of the chapter. Kṛṣṇa is sanniviṣṭaḥ — deeply situated — in the hṛd (heart) of sarva (all). From Him flow three cognitive functions: smṛti (memory), jñāna (knowledge), and apohana — loss, forgetting, negation.

Then, His relationship with the Vedas: He is the vedya (object to be known), the vedānta-kṛt (maker of the end of the Vedas), and the veda-vit (knower of the Vedas). Triple identification: object, author, connoisseur. This verse unites the devotional (hṛd) with the gnoseological (veda).
