In chapter 18, which meets logical objections with direct insight, this verse restates the Self’s identity with Brahman. The Self is without conceptual divisions, without form, without guṇas, and one alone. From this standpoint, nothing can be known, renounced, accepted, or rejected. The verse refuses to engage with objections on their own terms: every objection assumes the duality it tries to prove, and the Self is prior to all duality.
