Chapter 18 · Verse 89
सर्वत्रानवधानस्य न किञ्चिद् वासना हृदि
sarvatrānavadhānasya na kiñcid vāsanā hṛdi | muktātmano vitṛptasya tulanā kena j
In chapter 18 (Janaka’s liberation), verse 89 deepens the teaching of non-duality. The ātman is pure consciousness that remains immune to all appearance. In Advaita Vedānta philosophy, this verse of the Aṣṭāvakra Gītā reveals that freedom is inherent to the Self and requires no acquisition.
