Jñāna Yoga · Verse 15

एवं ज्ञात्वा कृतं कर्म पूर्वैरपि मुमुक्षुभिः | कुरु कर्मैव तस्मात्त्वं पूर्वैः पूर्वतरं कृतम्

evaṃ jñātvā kṛtaṃ karma pūrvair api mumukṣubhiḥ | kuru karmaiva tasmāt tvaṃ pūrvaiḥ pūrvataraṃ kṛtam

Having known thus, the ancients who desired liberation performed actions. Therefore, you too perform actions as the ancients performed them.

Historical examples. Mumukṣubhiḥ — by those who desired liberation — indicates that yoga is for mokṣa, not powers.

The pūrvaiḥ — ancients, those who came before — already resolved this apparent dilemma: action with knowledge produces liberation. Pūrvataraṃ kṛtam — what was done even more anciently — indicates ancestral tradition. Arjuna must follow the example, not invent.
