Karma-Sannyāsa Yoga · Verse 4
सांख्ययोगौ पृथग्बालाः प्रवदन्ति न पण्डिताः | एकमप्यास्थितः सम्यगुभयोर्विन्दते फलम्
sāṅkhya-yogau pṛthag bālāḥ pravadanti na paṇḍitāḥ | ekam apy āsthitaḥ samyag ubhayor vindate phalam
Children speak of sāṅkhya and yoga as different, not the wise. Established in one correctly, one obtains the fruit of both.
Unity of sāṅkhya (knowledge) and yoga (action). Bālāḥ — children, immature — see differences where there is unity.
The paṇḍitāḥ — wise — know they are two expressions of one path. Ekam āsthitaḥ — established in one — samyak — correctly — produces ubhayoḥ phalam — fruit of both. Knowledge without practice is sterile; practice without knowledge is blind. Both are necessary; choosing one and performing it completely integrates the other.
