Understand this, good man: bad qualities are undisciplined. Do not let greed and injustice torture you for long.

Evaṃ bho purisa jānāhi — understand this, good man: bho is a respectful form of address. Jānāhi is an imperative: know, understand, keep in mind.

Pāpadhammā asaññatā — bad qualities are undisciplined: pāpa-dhamma are harmful mental states; asaññata is without control, undisciplined. The nature of impurities is expansive if not contained.

Mā taṃ lobho adhammo ca ciraṃ dukkhāya randhayuṃ — do not let greed and injustice torture you for long: lobha is greed; adhammo is what is contrary to Dhamma, injustice. Randhayuṃ is to torture, oppress.

The verse functions as a direct and personal warning. It is not abstract teaching but a message addressed: you, good man, do not let these forces destroy you. The urgency is palpable.
