Guptāsana — the hidden, secret posture. Gupta means hidden, protected, mysterious. It is a variation of Svastikāsana with a specific configuration.
“Giver of perfection.” Like other principal postures, this grants powers when practiced with dedication. Its name suggests it works at subtle levels, hidden from ordinary perception.
The description indicates one leg crossed over the opposite thigh. Essentially it is half lotus, an intermediate posture accessible to those who have not yet mastered full Padmāsana but seek more stability than Svastikāsana.
