Prathama-prakaraṇam (Yama) · Verse 12
नारायणं जगन्नाथं सर्वभूतहृदि स्थितम् । वासुदेवं जगद्योनिं योगिध्येयं निरञ्जनम् ॥
nārāyaṇaṃ jagannāthaṃ sarvabhūtahṛdi sthitam | vāsudevaṃ jagadyoniṃ yogidhyeyaṃ nirāñjanam ||
Before the yoga teaching begins, Yājñavalkya invokes Viṣṇu-Nārāyaṇa as the supreme object of meditation. Jagannātha (Lord of the universe), sarvabhūtahṛdi sthitam (dwelling in the hearts of all beings), jagadyoni (source of the world), nirāñjana (stainless) — these epithets establish a Viśiṣṭādvaita orientation, connecting the yogic practice to devotion (bhakti) and to a theistic framework where Īśvara is both the goal and the indwelling presence.
