Prathama-prakaraṇam (Yama) · Verse 47
ध्यानं समाधिरेतानि योगाङ्गानि वरानने । यमश्च नियमश्चैव दशधा सम्प्रकीर्तितः ॥
dhyānaṃ samādhiretāni yogāṅgāni varānanē | yamaśca niyamaścaiva daśadhā samprakīrtitaḥ ||
The remaining two limbs — dhyāna (meditation) and samādhi (absorption) — complete the eight, and the total of yama and niyama is given as ten (daśadhā). This differs from Patañjali’s count of five yamas and five niyamas (also ten total), but the Yājñavalkya tradition includes additional items in each category, expanding the ethical and disciplinary foundation of practice.
