This verse universalizes the previous recognition: all is Brahman, formless and sat-cid-ānanda. In the context of chapter 17 this vision transcends renunciation itself. If everything is Brahman, then there is no “other” world to abandon and no separate self to abandon it. The sage’s freedom is not the result of leaving anything behind, but of recognizing that nothing was ever outside the one reality. His conduct is therefore natural and unconflicted, because it moves in a world that is not other than himself.
