Chapter 2 · Verse 11
न मे मित्रं न शत्रुर्न मे बन्धुर्न मे प्रिया
na me mitraṃ na śatrur na me bandhur na me priyā
Janaka denies all relational identities: friend, enemy, relative, beloved. These labels belong to the body, not to the Self. In chapter 2 this verse continues the stripping away of ahaṅkāra and mamatā. The jñānin no longer reads the world through the lens of “mine” and “not mine.” As the eternal witness (sākṣī), always free and always one, the sage remains undisturbed by the play of human relationships.
