Chapter 2 · Verse 12
नाहं शास्त्रं न मे शास्त्रं न मे गुरुर्न च शिष्यः
nāhaṃ śāstraṃ na me śāstraṃ na me gurur na ca śiṣyaḥ
Even the sacred instruments of liberation are left behind. Scripture (śāstra), teacher (guru), and disciple (śiṣya) all belong to the realm of the body and the world. In chapter 2 this verse does not disrespect tradition but declares that, for the realized one, the distinction between knower and known has collapsed. The Self is Supreme Consciousness, without action, without form. Once the truth is seen, the ladder is no longer mistaken for the roof.
