Chapter 2 · Verse 15

आत्मा केवलसिद्धोऽसि न ते साधनमिष्यते

ātmā kevala-siddho'si na te sādhanam iṣyate

The Ātman is ever perfect and needs no practice at all. Aṣṭāvakra introduces here the most radical teaching of the text: perfection is not an achievement but the very nature of the Self. Every practice assumes something is missing; every discipline begins from a sense of lack. But if Ātman is already complete, the seeking itself is the illusion. This verse cuts at the root the notion of sādhanā as a path toward freedom. Liberation is not the result of effort but the recognition of what already is.
