Only One, without duality, is Brahman. Nothing else exists. Janaka makes this truth his own at the close of chapter 4. This is not repetition from memory but the first time Janaka speaks as the Brahman he has recognized himself to be. Desire and fear have dissolved not through effort but through direct seeing. The sage’s peace is not the absence of conflict but the absence of the one who conflicted.
