Chapter 8 · Verse 2

निर्विकल्पं निराकारं निर्गुणं ब्रह्म केवलम्

nirvikalpaṃ nirākāraṃ nirguṇaṃ brahma kevalam

The Self is without mental constructs, without form, without guṇas, and Brahman alone. Chapter 8 addresses praise and blame, and this verse reminds the sage that nothing in experience can add to or subtract from what he is. If there is no real distinction, what could be known, renounced, accepted, or rejected? The question is not rhetorical ornament but the closing of every spiritual transaction.
