Bhakti Yoga · Verse 20
ये तु धर्म्यामृतमिदं यथोक्तं पर्युपासते | श्रद्दधाना मत्परमा भक्तास्तेऽतीव मे प्रियाः
ye tu dharmāmṛtam idaṃ yathoktaṃ paryupāsate | śraddadhānā mat-paramā bhaktās te 'tīva me priyāḥ
But those devotees who, full of faith and having Me as supreme goal, practice this dharmāmṛta according to what is prescribed — they are extremely dear to Me.
Culminating verse of Bhakti Yoga. Dharmāmṛtam — “nectar of dharma” — identifies this teaching as immortality itself. To practice it is to drink the elixir of eternal life.
The clause yathoktam — “according to what is said” — emphasizes the importance of following authorized tradition. Good intention is not enough; guidance from those who have walked the path is required.
Atīva me priyāḥ — “extremely dear to Me” — expresses the mutual love between devotee and Divine. Bhakti is not a path of servitude, but of loving relationship where both parties delight in each other.
