Those whose mind is well cultivated in the factors of awakening, who delight in relinquishing attachment without grasping, who have extinguished the taints and are radiant — they in this world have attained nibbana.

Sambodhiyaṅgesu sammā cittaṃ subhāvitaṃ — mind well cultivated in the seven factors of awakening: sati (presence), dhamma-vicaya (investigation), viriya (energy), pīti (rapture), passaddhi (tranquility), samādhi (concentration) and upekkha (equanimity). These seven are the heart of the path to awakening.

Ādānapaṭinissagge anupādāya ye ratā — who delight in relinquishing attachment without grasping: deliberate paradox. Delighting in letting go without attachment to letting go itself is the final sophistication. Not making non-attachment into a new attachment.

Khīṇāsavā jutimanto — who have extinguished the taints, who are radiant: the four āsava (taints that maintain existence) are extinguished. Jutimant is one who shines. Extinction is not darkness but luminosity.

Te loke parinibbutā — they in this world have attained nibbana: nibbana not as a place one goes after death but as a state realizable in this life, here and now. The most direct affirmation of diṭṭhadhamma-nibbana.
