Dvitīyopadeśaḥ (Āsana) · Verse 5

वृषः शलभो मकर उष्ट्रो भुजङ्ग एव च | योगश्चाकासनं चैव द्वात्रिंशदासनानि तु ||

vṛṣaḥ śalabho makara uṣṭro bhujaṅga eva ca | yogaścākāsanaṃ caiva dvātriṃśadāsanāni tu ||

Completing the catalogue: vṛṣa (bull), śalabha (locust), makara (crocodile/sea creature), uṣṭra (camel), bhujaṅga (serpent — cobra), yoga (yoga posture), cākāsana (crow posture).

Thirty-two (dvātriṃśat) āsanas comprise Gheraṇḍa’s repertoire. This is significantly more than the Haṭha Yoga Pradīpikā (15) or the Śiva Saṃhitā (4).

The variety suggests that the yogi should find the postures that work best for their constitution, not force themselves into inappropriate forms. The tradition recognizes bodily diversity.
