Commentary
The verse closes the cycle with the negative pole: the jīva laden with harmful karma (pāpakarma) never finds rest. The final statement is philosophically dense: «except karma, nothing exists in this world», and everything has emerged from Intelligence (cit) veiled by māyā. Karma here is not merely moral law but the very fabric of manifestation.
Kāmādayo doṣāḥ — «defects beginning with desire» — revisits the classical enumeration of disturbances (kleśas in Sāṃkhya-yoga terminology, doṣas here). Māyā designates the veiling power that conceals the true nature of pure Intelligence (cit or brahman): it is not mere subjective illusion but the cosmological principle generating phenomenal multiplicity from absolute unity.
The conclusion — that all emerges from Intelligence veiled by māyā — anchors the text in Tantric non-dualism: the world is not unreal but is brahman manifested beneath māyā’s veil. Yogic practice, from this perspective, is the process of lifting that veil — not to escape the world but to perceive the Intelligence that underlies and constitutes it.
