He who meditates on the Vaiśvānara as the chariot-maker, the chariot-master — to him we speak with supreme word as to the chariot-maker, the chariot-master.

Instruction on the meditation of cosmic fire (Vaiśvānara).

Yad etad dhyāti — he who meditates on this. The contemplation of the interior and cosmic fire.

Vaiśvānaram — the universal fire, Agni who resides in all beings.

Hiraṇyakartam — the chariot-maker. The constructor, the one who assembles, who gives form.

Ratheṣṭīm — the chariot-master. The driver, the one who directs, the charioteer.

Vācaḥ paramaṃ — supreme word. The highest teaching on this subject.

The chariot metaphor expands: Vaiśvānara is the one who builds and drives the cosmic vehicle. To meditate thus is to recognize the intelligence that informs all manifestation.

Fire is not mere element but the builder of the universe, the one who transforms the raw into the refined, who guides the evolution of matter toward consciousness.
