Indriya Dhāraṇā · Dhāraṇā 91
न मे बन्धो न मोक्षो मे भीतस्यैता विभीषिकाः । प्रतिबिम्बमिदमादित्ये जलेष्विव विभाव्यते ॥
na me bandho na mokṣo me bhītasyaitā vibhīṣikāḥ | pratibimbam idam āditye jaleṣv iva vibhāvyate ||
There is neither bondage nor liberation for me — these are bogeys for the frightened. This universe appears like the sun reflected in waters.
Ninety-first dhāraṇā. Liberation from liberation. Na me bandho na mokṣo me — there is neither bondage nor liberation for me. One of the most radical affirmations of tantra. The very search for liberation presupposes a bondage that does not exist. Seeking mokṣa confirms bandha.
Bhītasyaitā vibhīṣikāḥ — these are bogeys for the frightened. Bondage and liberation are concepts that only scare those who believe in them. For real consciousness, they are empty stories. Like telling an adult the bogeyman is coming.
Pratibimbam idam āditye jaleṣv iva — this universe appears like the sun reflected in waters. The sun is not in the water. The water does not affect the sun. Similarly, the universe appears in consciousness as a reflection. Consciousness is not bound by what it reflects. This understanding, when direct and not merely intellectual, is meditation itself.
