Prakaraṇa 1 · Verse 22
मनोमात्रम् इदं सर्वं नानात्मा जीवलोकवत्
manomātram idaṃ sarvaṃ nānātmā jīvalokavat
All this is only mind, like the world of living beings
Manomātra — “mind only” — is the thesis that runs through the Vāsiṣṭha and distinguishes it from sāṃkhya or haṭha texts. Where sāṃkhya posits a real duality between puruṣa and prakṛti, and haṭha works with the substantiality of body and energy, the Vāsiṣṭha insists: matter itself is a projection of mind. It is not that mind interprets matter; it is that matter is mind crystallized into forms that mind then perceives as external.
