Prathama-prakaraṇam (Yama) · Verse 4

ब्रह्मविद्भिर्महाभागैर्ब्राह्मणैश्च समावृतम् । सर्वभूतसमं शान्तं सत्यसन्धं गतक्लमम् ॥

brahmavidbhirmahābhāgairbrāhmaṇaiśca samāvṛtam | sarvabhūtasamaṃ śāntaṃ satyasandhaṃ gataklamam ||

Yājñavalkya is described as surrounded by knowers of Brahman and illustrious brāhmaṇas, establishing the setting as an assembly of the wise. The qualities sarvabhūtasama (equanimity toward all beings), śānta (peaceful), satyasandha (truthful), and gataklama (free from fatigue) paint a portrait of the sage who has transcended the ordinary human condition. These attributes foreshadow the yogic attainments the text will later describe as the fruit of practice.
