Chapter 8 · Verse 6
सर्वं ब्रह्ममयं ज्ञात्वा निर्द्वन्द्वो निर्भयो भव
sarvaṃ brahma-mayaṃ jñātvā nirdvandvo nirbhayo bhava
Knowing that all is Brahman, be free from the pairs of opposites and without fear. Nothing remains to be feared or lost, because the Self is fullness, peace, and freedom itself. Chapter 8 concerns praise and condemnation, and freedom from dvandva is directly relevant here. Praise and blame are themselves opposites; the one who transcends them is not aloof but truly free. The sage does not flee the opinions of others — he simply no longer finds anyone whom those opinions could affect.
