अफलाकाङ्क्षिभिर्यज्ञो विधिदृष्टो य इज्यते | यष्टव्यमेवेति मनः समाधाय स सात्त्विकः
aphalākāṅkṣibhir yajño vidhi-dṛṣṭo ya ijyate | yaṣṭavyam eveti manaḥ samādhāya sa sāttvikaḥ
The sacrifice that is offered according to rules, by those who do not desire fruit, thinking ‘must be sacrificed’ with mind established — that is sāttvika.
Sāttvika sacrifice: aphalākāṅkṣibhiḥ — by those who do not desire fruit. Vidhi-dṛṣṭaḥ — according to what is seen/regulated in the vidhi (precept). Ijyate — is offered, is worshipped.
Attitude: yaṣṭavyam eva — “must be sacrificed” simply, as duty, not for gain. Manaḥ samādhāya — with mind established, fixed. This is pure karma-yoga — right action from duty, without attachment to result.
