Śraddhā-Trayā-Vibhāga Yoga · Verse 11
अभिसन्धाय तु फलं दम्भार्थमपि चैव यत् | इज्यते भरतश्रेष्ठ तं यज्ञं विद्धि राजसम्
abhisandhāya tu phalaṃ dambhārtham api caiva yat | ijyate bhara-śreṣṭha taṃ yajñaṃ viddhi rājasam
But the sacrifice that is offered with sight set on fruit, and also for the sake of hypocrisy, oh Bhārata, know that sacrifice as rājasika.
Rājasika sacrifice: abhisandhāya phalam — with intention (abhisandhāya) toward fruit. Objective: material results — wealth, power, pleasure.
Another motivation: dambha-artham — for the sake of ostentation. The sacrifice is done to be seen, for religious reputation. Bhāratāśreṣṭha — best of the Bhāratas (Arjuna). This is karma with attachment, not liberating.
