अहङ्कारं बलं दर्पं कामं क्रोधं परिग्रहम् | विमुच्य निर्ममः शान्तो ब्रह्मभूयाय कल्पते

ahaṅkāraṃ balaṃ darpaṃ kāmaṃ krodhaṃ parigraham | vimucya nirmamaḥ śānto brahma-bhūyāya kalpate

Abandoning the ego, force, arrogance, desire, anger, attachment — free from possessiveness, peaceful, one becomes fit for the state of Brahman.

Six obstacles to abandon:

  1. Ahaṅkāra — ego, separate identity
  2. Bala — brute force, domination
  3. Darpa — arrogance, pride
  4. Kāma — desire
  5. Krodha — anger
  6. Parigraha — possession, accumulation

Vimucya — liberating oneself. Nirmamaḥ — without “mine.” Śāntaḥ — peaceful. Kalpate — becomes fit/capable. Brahma-bhūyāya — for the state of Brahman.
