Deha Dhāraṇā · Dhāraṇā 43
गीतादिविषयास्वादासमसौख्यैकतात्मनः । योगिनस्तन्मयत्वेन मनोरूढेस्तदात्मता ॥
gītādi-viṣayāsvādā-samasaukhyaikatātmanaḥ | yoginas tanmayatvena manorūḍhes tadātmatā ||
For the yogi whose nature is uniform bliss of enjoying music and other objects — by total absorption, as mind establishes, identity with that arises.
Forty-third dhāraṇā. Music as path. Gītādi-viṣayāsvādā — savoring music and other sense objects. Samasaukhyaikatātmanaḥ — whose nature is uniform bliss. Not bliss that rises and falls with the melody. Constant bliss underlying all variations.
Tanmayatvena — by total absorption. Losing oneself completely in music. Without thinking of composer, technique, instrument. Merging with sound until there is no hearer nor sound — only pure experience of listening.
Manorūḍheḥ tadātmatā — as mind establishes, identity with that arises. “That” is bliss itself. Yogi does not listen to music to entertain. Listens to find consciousness vibrating as sound. Any aesthetic experience serves if absorption is total.
