Prathama-prakaraṇam (Yama) · Verse 29

कुर्याद्यज्ञेन देवेभ्यः स्वाश्रमं धर्ममाचरन् । चत्वारो ब्राह्मणस्योक्ता आश्रमाः श्रुतिचोदिताः ॥

kuryādyajñena devebhyaḥ svāśramaṃ dharmamācaran | catvāro brāhmaṇasyoktā āśramāḥ śruticoditāḥ ||

The four āśramas — specifically for the brāhmaṇa — are declared by śruti itself. The mention of yajña for the gods connects this to the three debts. Svāśramaṃ dharmamācaran — practicing the dharma of one’s own āśrama — is the foundation. This verse establishes that yoga is built upon, not opposed to, the varṇāśrama dharma system.
