Knowing Brahman, whose very nature is knowledge, there is no knower and no object of knowledge. All is one, without duality. Where, then, is the conception of multiplicity? Janaka formulates here the paradox of ultimate knowledge: to know Brahman is to dissolve the triad of knower, knowledge, and known. In Chapter 12 this is a fresh revelation — the knowledge that consumes the knower.
