Mokṣa-Sannyāsa Yoga · Verse 40
न तदस्ति पृथिव्यां वा दिवि देवेषु वा पुनः | सत्त्वं प्रकृतिजैर्मुक्तं यदेभिः स्यात्त्रिभिर्गुणैः
na tad asti pṛthivyāṃ vā divi deveṣu vā punaḥ | sattvaṃ prakṛti-jair muktaṃ yad ebhiḥ syāt tribhir guṇaiḥ
There is nothing on earth or in heaven or among the devas, that is free from these three guṇas born of prakṛti.
Universality of the guṇas. Pṛthivyām — on earth (material world). Divi — in heaven. Deveṣu — among devas (even celestial beings are in prakṛti).
Nahi sattvam asti muktam — there is no entity liberated from ebhiḥ tribhiḥ guṇaiḥ — these three guṇas — prakṛti-jaiḥ — born of prakṛti. Every manifested form is guṇātmikā — composed of guṇas.
