Saptamopadeśaḥ (Samādhi) · Verse 19

नाहं किञ्चित्स्वतन्त्रो वा न ममेति विनिश्चयः | ज्ञाने लीनं मनः कृत्वा योगी योगपरायणः ||

nāhaṃ kiñcit svatantrao vā na mameti viniścayaḥ | jñāne līnaṃ manaḥ kṛtvā yogī yogaparāyaṇaḥ ||

Technique of Jñāna yoga: the negation (neti neti — not this, not this) of the ego and what belongs to it. The discernment that nothing belongs to the separate “I.”

“I am nothing” — the ego is a construction, not reality. “Nothing is mine” — attachment is illusion.

This determination (viniścayaḥ) is not intellectual but existential. It is living from the recognition of one’s true nature.
