From him the Ṛg, Sāma, Yajur, initiation, sacrifice, ritual, animals, all beings, inhalation and exhalation, rice and barley, austerity, truth, vow, regulation, Vedas, sacrifice —from him, from him.
Fifth repetition, continuing the liturgy. In our yoga practice, this almost tireless repetition teaches patience and persistence. Knowledge of Brahman is not an event but a process of saturation. Each repetition is an opportunity to listen again, to let these words penetrate more deeply. The vrata (vow/commitment) included in the list is both human practice and divine emanation —commitment to truth is truth itself manifesting as commitment.
