Puruṣottama Yoga · Verse 13
गामाविश्य च भूतानि धारयाम्यहमोजसा | पुष्णामि चौषधीः सर्वाः सोमो भूत्वा रसात्मकः
gām āviśya ca bhūtāni dhārayāmy aham ojasā | puṣṇāmi cauṣadhīḥ sarvāḥ somo bhūtvā rasātmakaḥ
Entering the earth, I sustain the beings with My vigor; and becoming soma, of nutritive nature, I nourish all medicinal plants.
Two cosmic functions of Kṛṣṇa. First: gām āviśya — entering, going into the earth, He sustains (dhārayāmi) all the bhūta (beings, elements) with ojas (vigor, potential energy).
Second: becoming soma — the nutritive essence, the lunar sap — of nature rasa-ātmaka (essentially taste/nutrition), He nourishes (puṣṇāmi) all the auṣadhi (medicinal plants, herbs). The gā (earth) and the soma (water-nutrition) are the two poles that sustain plant life, both empowered by Him.
