From him are all the oceans and mountains; from him flow the rivers of every form; from him are all plants and their essences — by which this inner Self pervades all beings.

The cosmic totality as emanation of the single Person.

Samudrā girayaḥ — oceans and mountains. The extremes of geography: the deepest and the highest.

Syandante sindhavaḥ — flow the rivers. The continuous movement of waters, the circulation of life.

Sarvarūpāḥ — of every form. The unlimited variety of moving water.

Oṣadhayaḥ rasaḥ ca — plants and essences. Vegetable life and its taste, its medicine, its substance.

Yena… tiṣṭhate — by which pervades. The Person is not separate from creation but completely permeates it.

Antarātmā — the inner Self. The same in all, the presence that makes all existence possible.

Bhūtaiḥ — in the beings, the elements. The pervasion is not spatial but essential.

To contemplate this is to see the divine in every drop of water, every leaf, every mountain.
