From him arise seven prāṇas, seven flames, seven fuels, seven oblations; seven are these worlds in which the prāṇas of hidden cavities move — seven times seven.
The numerology of seven as cosmic structure: ordered multiplicity.
Sapta prāṇāḥ — seven prāṇas. The vital energies: prāṇa, apāna, vyāna, udāna, samāna, plus the senses.
Saptārciṣaḥ — seven flames. The forms of fire, the varieties of transforming energy.
Samidhaḥ — seven fuels. The supports of manifestation.
Sapta homāḥ — seven oblations. The offerings that sustain the cosmos.
Sapta ime lokāḥ — seven worlds. The planes of existence: three higher, three lower, one middle.
Guhāśayā nihitāḥ — hidden in the cavity. The prāṇas reside in the hṛdaya, the cavern of the heart.
Sapta sapta — seven times seven. The infinite multiplicity of ordered manifestation.
The yogī works with these seven prāṇas, learning to balance them in practice.
