Ātma-Saṃyama Yoga · Verse 24

सङ्कल्पप्रभवान्कामांस्त्यक्त्वा सर्वानशेषतः | मनसैवेन्द्रियग्रामं विनियम्य समन्ततः

saṅkalpa-prabhavān kāmān tyaktvā sarvān aśeṣataḥ | manasaivendriya-grāmaṃ viniyamya samantataḥ

Completely abandoning all desires born of will, and controlling the entire cohort of senses by the mind on all sides…

Preparation for meditation: abandon kāmān saṅkalpa-prabhavān — desires born of saṅkalpa (will, mental projection, intention). This is deeper than simply avoiding sense objects.

Indriya-grāma — the group of senses — must be viniyamya (controlled) manasā (by the mind), samantataḥ (on all sides, completely). The control is internal, not external.
