From him the Ṛg, Sāma, Yajur, initiation, sacrifice, ritual, animals, all beings, inhalation and exhalation, rice and barley, austerity, truth, vow, regulation, Vedas, sacrifice —from him, from him.

Seventh repetition, carrying the liturgy to its peak. Seven is a complete number —the seven lokas, the seven ṛṣis, the seven cakras. In our yoga practice, this final repetition of the cosmic list leaves us in presence of the ineffable. The words have done their work: not to describe but to indicate, not to define but to invite direct experience. Everything is tasmāt —from Him, from Him. The yajña (sacrifice) that begins and ends the list is the eternal cycle: from Him everything emerges, to Him everything returns.
