Prathama-prakaraṇam (Yama) · Verse 16
पद्मासने समासीनं चतुराननमव्ययम् । चराचराणां स्रष्टारं ब्रह्माणं परमेष्ठिनम् ॥
padmāsane samāsīnaṃ caturānamavyayam | carācarāṇāṃ sraṣṭāraṃ brahmāṇaṃ parameṣṭhinam ||
The vision of Brahmā is described: seated in padmāsana, four-faced (caturānana), immutable (avyaya), creator of all that moves and is stationary (carācara). The lotus posture signals meditative stillness even as Brahmā is the active creator. This paradox — stillness within activity — is the archetype of the yogic ideal the text will develop: one who acts in the world from a place of deep interiority.
