To that Inhabitant of the body I take refuge with devotion, designating Him as Brahman. There is no thief for Him, no deceiver, no murderer.

The dehin (inhabitant of the body) is the antaryāmin we have been exploring. Refuge (prapatti) is taken with bhakti (devotion/love), recognizing Him as Brahman. The protection promised is total: nothing and no one can steal, deceive, or kill the true being. In our yoga practice, this liberates us from fundamental fear. The thief steals possessions, the deceiver confuses the mind, the murderer destroys the body —but Ātman is indestructible, immeasurable, inalienable. Knowing this is true security.
