From him the Ṛg, Sāma, Yajur, initiation, sacrifice, ritual, animals, all beings, inhalation and exhalation, rice and barley, austerity, truth, vow, regulation, Vedas, sacrifice —from him, from him.

Tenth and final repetition of this cosmic list, completing a pattern of perfection. In our yoga practice, this extensive liturgy is the bridge between Vedic ritual and Vedāntic meditation. Everything that external sacrifice seeks to achieve —union with the divine— is achieved here through contemplation. The dīkṣā (initiation) that begins the list is also our beginning on the path; the yajña (sacrifice) that ends it is our final offering: the ego itself. Everything is tasmāt —from Him, from Him, always from Him.
